The Phlebotomy Refresher Course is accredited, and after completion, you can sit for the CPT certification exam. Most states will accept this certification; however, it’s always a good idea to check with your state licensing board before purchasing the program.

After taking the national phlebotomy exam and the blood draws are completed, you will be emailed and mailed your certification. This is a national phlebotomy certificate (CPT). You can also find the certificate under the Transcripts tab in the learning management system.

Each module includes a pre-test, objectives for learning, narrative, and a post-test. A list of recommended supplemental reading is also included. Depending on the individual, most modules require a minimum of one hour to complete, excluding additional text. Upon completion of the self-study modules, a post-test may be purchased from NPCE.

After successful completion of the certification test, the student may be required to complete a minimum of 10 successful blood draws. The Phlebotomy Refresher Course program is designed to prepare medical professionals for employment in a hospital laboratory, blood center, or other health care facility to draw blood by venipuncture and capillary puncture. Students are taught safe and efficient work practices in obtaining adequate and correct blood specimens, labeling specimens, and transporting samples correctly to the appropriate laboratory sections. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines for HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B, and other diseases are stressed.
